When I first started getting waves, I had them in and then I got my hair wet and, it took my waves completely out. It took me a while to get them back in. Ever since I've been scared to get my hair wet.

Yea... so the only time I get my hair wet is when I wash it. I wash my hair once a week.( I DONT USE GREASE I ONLY USE VITAMIN E OIL) When I wash my hair my waves on the side come out, and are hard to get back in.

Is not getting my hair wet bad? What does water do for your waves? Why does this happen? Has it happened to any of you? If so, what do you do to fix it?

Getting your wet will cause you to lose hold. Remember that a wave is a tight coil. When hair gets wet, the coils relax and may become loose as compared to when it is dry.

Although the coils may become undone, it isn’t anything that a good episode or two of brushing won’t correct.

Once the pattern is set all that it does is change forms it doesn’t disappear. Just realize that what you see sometimes is the result of natural oil, dirt and products.
